Cantina di Sorbara "Nicchia" Description
This delicious Lambrusco from Cantina di Sorbara is named for Virginia Oldoini, the Countess of Castiglione, who was fondly referred to by her nickname "Nicchia". An Italian beauty with surprising political power, Nicchia is credited with the unification of Italy and preventing the post-Franco-Prussian War occupation of Paris, as well as contributing to early photography with photographer Pierre-Louis Pierson.
Cantina di Sorbara "Nicchia" Lambrusco is a lively sparkling red with a bright, fruit-forward nose and an elegant, medium-bodied palate. Subtly sweet notes of cherry, blackberry and plum are complemented by refreshing acidity and a clean, lingering finish.
Food pairing: aperitif, charcuterie, hard cheeses, pork, game.
